What a cool yule!

Merry Christmas!! Did you have a good one? I did! Despite having a bit of a misery on because I don't get to see much of my family-I had a lovely one. Christmas day with Dave's family was lovely, the kids LOVED their gifts and I got a lot of lovely things including a Kindle!! Wow- was not expecting that at all! So I've downloaded loads of books and think I might try to make a point of doing a free download review each week. What do you think? The layout above is because I'm on rabbit duty while my friend Anne is skiing! This one's Harvey- he's fat dumb and very cuddly! Rory is small grumpy but quite smart. Millie is just plain cute! so I'm feeding and de-pooping them as well as my menagerie! Busy times! Made some lovely tiffin Christmas puds. The recipe is on IACW- pop over and give them a try- super yummy. I will make the most of these gluttonous times as come new year the weight watching will be back on! Catch you soon! xx

I can toot now!

Several weeks back I got an email from The Scrapbook Magazine's editor telling me I was a runner up for scrapbooker of the year!! I couldn't post about it until now- so when I mentioned working on pages I was using for competition- these were the ones! Hope you like. The pretty gen is on acetate and features crackle glaze and paper clay leaves, there's lots of stitching for the title on EM and I raided Andrews jars of sea glass for the sea glass one! So yay! Runner up!!

A little bit of sunshine

....on a fairly gloomy day! That's what this layout makes me think of! the sky is grey but the day isn't with my lovely Emma- although she's at school today and Andrew is at home with a pal. so I've snuck in a quick post before I serve up lunch! Have fun with your day xx

Helloooo!

Thought I'd share a bright little number to match the bright weather outside! An oldie in the cupboard- made several month's back. It's based on the Ting Tings song of the same title. We are very fond of pet names in our house- but at one point Emma wasn't! You could call her anything but Emma! " That's not my name!" she'd pout! So that's how the title came about- and the black strips across the page? ingenious! Black bin bags! I'm not convinced it archival safe- but they look all punky and fun so who care's! I have the photo on file and this page was all about fun! hope you like!! Lx

I set myself a challenge

....the other week. How many different ways to use a ribbon on a layout. I managed 3 techniques, my favourite being mummifying chip board letters! They didn't match and were quite big so I wrapped them up and tie knots here and there- and it turned out quite cute I think! Keep and eye on my side bar as I'm going to be adding links to all my extremely talented DT mates from it's a creative world! the blog is now posting a regular piece of inspiration- daily!

It's a creative world

And I'm part of it!! How cool is that? A new group of creative types are joining some of the original team to keep you inspired on lots of creative levels. I'm really proud to have been invited and hope I can do as great a job as they have done previously. So now I need to go and admire all the blogs listed there for my new teamies. Fancy following me- it's right here!

Little Miss Messy

A recent page of mine- but old photo's that have ever been used. I couldn't resist trying to get some of the mass on her onto the page! I've smeared acrylic paint onto the acetate from behind. Had a bit of fun with the title- I found the text in a magazine, so using the tubes of stuff for creating outlines on glass painting, I made an overlay o the acetate. Just seemed perfect for the pictures!

grave work

Unreal! One day it's September and then all of a sudden it's mid October and I'm making card coffins! My most spectacular invite yet! A scroll wrapped round a severed fingered and delivered in a coffin! Perfect for a gruesome pile of 7/8 year olds! have gone back to a hallowee themed 8th birthday for Andrew- a tour of terror followed by a frightful feast and being scared shrekless( dvd!) Will have to share some photo's!!

Covert operations

Hi there! I have vowed to make today a crafty day( well morning really- dishes must be done!)I have been doing lots of scrapping- but I'm entering some of them in competitions so can't show them. It's probably a bit sad of me to enter stuff but it's not so much thinking i have a chance of winning that makes me try, more the element of here's something to do it for. I like somthing saying to me "scrap!". The plus side is I do more than I need to so it does get me in the mood to keep doing it. I know I should be just doing it for me really but that's the way I am. in the meantime i did something for a friend. A sympathy card unfortunately. Not someone close to her but always sad. i used my paper clay leaves- which makes me think i'll do some more soon as they do look rather sweet! Thanks for dropping by- catch you soon! xx

it wasn't pretty

...by any stretch of the imagination!I am of course talking about our garage- a yukky old asbestos thing that had a tree fall and damage the roof. I was gutted about the tree- a beautiful lilac- but at least we were able to replace the garage with a lovely shiny new one!As pictured! It arrived on the very last day of Dave's hols as he went back for inset days- but already he has started preparing the floor and partition wall. He has also brought home a massive filing cabinet and shelves. the filing cabinet is an ugly beast but holds masses- so that will be one of my challenges, make it purty! watch this space!!

Did I ever show you this one?

I am beavering away making new pages but haven't got round to uploading new stuff- but this is a really old one that somehow doesn't look to dated- so that's my contribution to the blogging world. The title was made from scoubidous and acrylic paint to make a spaghetti effect! On the plus side- the garage has been built! so my crafting space is one step closer!! Watch this space! TFL x

This was another submission page which I actually did stepped instructions for. Haven't posted them but the flowers were made from polymer clay if you fancy trying something similar. this should be my last scheduled post- so next one means I home, ready and waiting for the new garage( and my half as the new crafting space!! Don't expect glamour like most peoples- I'm sure mine will be very rough around the edges!!)

Mojo memories

Ah memories- this was the first page I ever did for Mojoholder Back in 2009. It was a fab inspiration blog, full of amazing scrappers hat is now now sadly gone. But I thought a golden oldie with a beach theme would be a good reminder that I'll be back soon from the seaside!

woohoo- hols!

Well we are off to Devon tomorrow- so posts will be thin on the ground, but I'm going to try and set couple to go up while I'm away. Fingers crossed! in the meantime- a beachy page for you. Lots of fabric and sewing on this one. for some reason I always love doing beach scenes- will have to see if I can find a few oldies for you. Speak soon! xx

Retro!

There is nothing better than having a picture and paper that were made for each other! This is one of the paper's I got for my birthday and made me pull out this old one(VERY old one!)It's been in a 6x6 album I planned to make into to a book of me but heck-I deserve a 12 x 2! So there you go! What did you think of the cake pops by the way?? The kids LOVED them! Catch you soon!! x

Thursday, August 4, 2011

oh dear.....cake pops are here!

These are seriously bad.... in a good way!! I picked up a copy of Craftseller a few weeks ago and have been itching to make these.I had soooo much fun with this! This is my first batch- and has just been given a huge thumbs up by The Batch ( Holly next door!) so the plan is practice, get even fatter and then hopefully try encouraging a few sales too! watch this space!! ;0)

My most over used blog post is....

....I've been busy! LOL but I have! Honest! In the last few weeks I have attended all manner of school events leading up to Andrew leaving infant school, doing the yearly horticultural show. I got 5 firsts in the flower arranging ( a first!) Interestingly the better I do the less cups I seem to get! Which means less polishing so I cant moan! I've done 4 layouts for a design team application. I think I may have mentioned how I miss the challenge of being on one so I've given it a shot- who knows if or when I'll hear. But it was a good excuse to get busier. This is one of the pages I submitted. A fave photo of Em. On top of that I've had my birthday, made another 3 layouts with paper I got as a gift, have made a card for my friends new baby boy, helped paint the front and back of the house white( was a very dirty stone pebbledash before- bleurgh!) baked a cake which is ready for me to attempt making cake pops and tried linking this blog to my facebook page to see if anyone wants to read or follow it! Any hoo- off to tidy up before bed! Thanks for dropping by!

Another missing page

Another one of my unseen pages- back when I was designing for Indigo Mill but just when it closed- so it never was blogged! When i finally get my craft area, I have no doubt there will be even more pages surfacing!!

How appropriate!

A thank you card! I made a set of three for my mother in law- but should use them myself. For my birthday ( on sat) I got lots of lovely presents from family and friends, a couple of parties, two meals out and a goodbye to young Mr Potter. A fitting end, not messed about with to much and the right thing done by Prof Snape. Harry Potter rules!

Some bunny to love

This has been sitting on my "done but never done anything with" pile! Harvey, our neighbouring rabbit has increased in size and gained another chum but doesn't seem to mind Andrew would rather cuddle his own little Guinea pigs. But for a while there he was number one cuddle boy!

Finally!

I uploaded!! My pc is on it's last legs so bear with me! My birthday looms so you never know:0)
Actually, being realistic I do know- not going to get a new one! But I can hope!! This is a get me in the mood for the summer hols layout- Minehead beach! Emma doing her own independant thing as usual. Walked up and down the beach carrying buckets of water for it all to keep disappearing in the sand! Bless! Hope you are all well and still visiting!! xx

Tuesday, July 12, 2011

Sorry!

My pc is still being a pig! So I will endeavour to bring you something soon- if you haven't given up on me already ! X

tsk- rubbish puter!

You would not believe how many times i try to upload on here and walk away cursing!! My PC is as rubbish as I am- no worse! So it is it's fault I haven't uploaded in a week. Here's one of Andrew sporting his first gap.
It's pouring with rain outside and thundering a lot- don't you love British weather. If you do not hail from the UK, you may not know what I mean but yesterday was 30 degrees Celsius with glorious sunshine and now I can barely see through the window with rain! But then what would we Brits do withoutp the weather to talk about! What ho!

Time flies

One thing about scrap booking is how aware it makes you of time! How quickly it goes. how little you have! The layouts are of the kids doing their first school run. Emma's was last September and she will be in year 1 next term. No longer the youngest in the school.it went so quickly but she has been having a ball! Andrew's, as ever, is a bit longer- but it's gone just as quickly.next term he actually leaves infant school and goes up to year 3 in the junior school. I hope he will be happy there, he is quite a sensitive little soul! So that's them both moving on and me still pretty much doing what I've been doing for I don't know how long! Time to sort myself out I think!

some thing old...

....but something new! This layout that is! It's been lurking for a couple of years and looked pretty much as it does now but to messy looking and not embellished. so that's all I've done. A few week's back( I think) on UKS the Scrap Factor competition had a them inspired by movies/tv. A you can see I used that inspiration a while back now- one of my fave films " The Usual Suspects" The main inspiration being the suspect line up and title- plus a case file! Hope you like the idea! Brand spanking new...

layouts!I did these last night. I scrapped this one of Andrew, I felt like a mean mummy not doing one of him for so long and then couldn't resist doing a girly one. I seem to keep them simple these days for speed- the leaves on Andrew's were made from paper clay ages ago- but fit in perfectly with the buttons. Hope you like xx

Thinking about being sunny

The weather here is teetering on nice but there are dark clouds hovering trying to spoil it, so i thought I'd brighten up my blog with some pretty flowers. On a layout!
poor old Andrew doesn't get a look in these days- but a lot of that is down to pulling grotesque faces when i get a camera out! So it's another one of Emma with one of her best friends. such cute pictures- Emma is Livvy's "girly" friend because she doesn't do girly stuff- yuk! As Emma is the ultimate in girly this is a complete case of opposites attract- Emma is Cinderella/ Rapunzel and Liv is Buzz Light year!Does take all sorts doesn't it!I hope it doesn't spoil the page but I've blocked some of Liv's face for her privacy. Thanks for dropping by! xx

A layout!!

Where did the weekend go? I worked this Saturday so this is the first chance I've had to blog in peace! This is one of my most recent layouts. As you can see,it's all about the beautiful photo of Em, taken by my friend Anne. I've tried to keep it very simple- the main bit of detail s the heart which I've sewn with a leather cord- not a great idea I can tell you! Numb fingers trying o pull it through. i've finally photographed this and others so will hopefull get round to posting them soon! TFL xx

Another Father's Day card

Well Carole said her Dad doesn't like golf- but I know she likes bunting- so this could be a good alternative! I've used the same materials for this card but used a punch to make bunting flags instead. Will post a card for green fingered Dad's next!

An experiment

For almost as long as I've had this blog, I've had an etsy shop by the same name! And it's been as successful!-LOL. Actually, I shouldn't knock it- I made a sale! A set of cloud embellishments- it covered the cost of postage and possibly making them, but sadly the total wasn't enough for me to take the money from my paypal balance- it needs to be over £6 and I made £1.69!! So my sale sits in paypal limbo!I So I thought I might put these pre made layouts on etsy and see what happens. You never know- someone may decide they like them!
Thats been one of the thing stopping me crafting so much recently. Being a SAHM meant I only went to work one day a week. Now the kids are at school I have to make some decisions about what to do with my life- something many people go through. If my work were up for it I could increase my hours- downsides being a) They prob aren't and b) I love being able to work during the week but if one of the kids has an inset day or is sick I'm in a horrible position trying to get time off or organise childcare (like most mums) So the obvious answer is doing something I like at home. Like this! What a superb idea! I must be the only crafter to think it!! NOT! So we'll see. Maybe it's a goer or a complete pipedream. But it's fun trying- in fact have you tried yourself? Any hints or tips? catch you later! xxx

Welcome!!

So welcome to my old/new blog! it's been sitting here since I got my lampworking kit in 2008! It had a total of 7 posts in that time showing you how well I had done with all things crafty!! Hadnt done very well- had I!!lo! So I'm going to try harder. Try and show some scrapbook pages, some cards and hopefully a few makes and classes. many moons ago I was doing all that at the one time- on design teams, doing mag work and contributing to inspiration blogs. And I realised how much I miss it! I miss it because it kept me going creatively- I loved the challenge and the interaction you got from people doing those kind of things. Over recent years it's been a case of scrap when I feel like it- which wasn't often. So hopefully thats going to change! I have a pile of layouts just being finished off, some oldies that never saw the light and plenty of cards because thats been what I mainly do these days!

So here is one of my most recent cards- father's day is looming! Quite a simple but it looks pretty cool- no frills! the golf ball is a pearl. Anyway thanks for visiting, I'll be adding bit's here and there so do pop by! Laura x
